Despite recent projections from The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors who forecast a 3 per cent fall in property prices nationally in 2012, here in Newport, I think we still have it fairly good! I, for one, am proud to be part of such a thriving community and potential buyers also recognise how much there is to offer. Aside from excellent schools, we enjoy great transport links to nearby towns and cities, a wide range of properties of all ages and styles, a low crime rate, and above all – a sense of belonging. Sounds corny but having not originated from Newport myself, I appreciate the way the local people have made me feel welcome here. I guess what I am trying to say is that all these components mean that activity within the housing market is still buoyant in this area and everyone should remember the golden rule – although prices may still decline slightly this year, unless you are selling a property and not buying anything else, it’s all relative.
In addition to the sales side of things, lettings are also booming and now is the time of year that our Harper Adams’ students, (in particular) are seeking out accommodation for the new academic year. With returns of up to 9% on your investment, renting to students is something to seriously consider and Marion, (our Sales and Lettings Advisor) has personal experience of letting a property of her own to students and is therefore able to give you the benefit of her knowledge, should you be thinking of going down this route. With regards to family lets, we have, (to date) let every single one of our available properties and are therefore crying out for new flats, houses or bungalows to offer!
With great competitive rates, NO VAT TO PAY and a friendly, professional service, call Louise or Marion at Barker Healey Property today for more information on selling or letting your home.
